Frequently Asked Questions
What Are Digital Radiographs? We are now able to offer our patients a new technological breakthrough! Digital radiographs require up to 90% less radiation than traditional x-rays and are environmentally friendly! They show us large crisp, electronic pictures of teeth, supporting bones and gums, undetectable by the naked eye.
Why should missing teeth be replaced? The empty space created by a missing tooth can set off a chain reaction of problems that can effect your entire mouth. Firstly, missing teeth causes you to bite in an unbalanced way. This puts enormous amounts of stress on some teeth and little on others. It also usually means you are avoiding a particular side of your mouth. This in many cases puts stress on jaws and T.M. joints. Over time the space may fill in with the adjacent teeth. As this drifting takes place other well aligned teeth go out of position. This in turn lastly affects your appearance. Gaps in your smile are unattractive! Gaps can be filled by bridges, and partial dentures as well as implants.
What are dental sealants?Dental sealants are a plastic material used to protect the chewing surfaces of the teeth. Dental sealants are applied to decay-prone surfaces of the teeth, usually molars and pre-molars. Children are usually excellent candidates for this procedure.

Children or adults with excessive amounts of work or young adults needing removal of wisdom teeth usually choose this procedure.
VeneersThis cosmetic procedure involves bonding a thin layer of porcelain to the tooth surface. Veneers are used to straighten teeth, fill in gaps between teeth, or to provide a whiter uniform colour.
CrownsA porcelain cap that is placed on top of the prepared tooth. This procedure is necessary on root canal treated teeth which can be very brittle. In addition, crowns may be used to straighten crooked teeth or just to strengthen worn out or heavily filled teeth.
Root Canal TherapyThis procedure is needed when the tooth s pulp becomes infected or inflamed. By removing the tooth's nerve we can often save the tooth.
Porcelain BridgesA bridge is used to replace one or more missing teeth. It spans the gap left by the missing tooth or teeth. It generally relies on the two existing teeth on either side of the gap to be anchored while filling the gap with beautiful porcelain replacement teeth.
